THE BEST 9 THINGS TO DO THIS SUMMER!

Summer is here and we know you’ve been taking mental notes of all the things you’d love to do over this period. Us too! Spending time with family and friends always consumes the Christmas and New Year period and it can leave you feeling exhausted. You find yourself either constantly washing dishes and trying to find an outfit that you don’t need to iron and it makes us tired just thinking about it. And then somehow we always seem to make our way back to work, or our everyday reality, without taking some time to do the little things that can really help us feel relaxed. So why not allow yourself a small time out project over this summer to just hang out with yourself?!

Taking some time to yourself is always a great way to feel refreshed and ready to take on a new project, mindset or year! At Cammino we love what we do but we know taking a little chill time can make all the difference to our motivation levels. We are going to share with you all ourbest 9 things to do this summer list and we hope it gives you some inspiration to write your own and tick them off one by one.

1. Read a book

Let’s start with an easy one that is good for your soul and means you can have a quiet moment to yourself without a screen. Yep, we think you should ditch the kindle here and get a real book with printed pages. 2020 was all about our screens so to escape the blue light grab and yourself that novel, or biography that you’ve been meaning to read forever and read it!

2. Organise your pantry

This one won’t be appealing to everyone but once you do it you will feel like you have your life together (same as when your bra matches your knickers!) Even if it’s just wiping down your shelves and throwing out spices that have expired last decade. Give your pantry a bit of TLC and you’ll find mealtimes easier to manage and if you want to go crazy with the label maker - no judgement here!

3. Day trip to the beach

No need to hire a beach house and move your life down to the seaside for a week or so. Day trips are quick and require much less equipment, planning and effort. Plan to leave early to maximise your beach time and make sure you either pack your lunch or book a lunch spot so you're not grabbing a pie from the tuck shop. While you’re there just do whatever it is you want and try not to be on a time limit. You’ll feel way more relaxed if you’re not rushing back home.

4. Do a puzzle with the family

Puzzles are a great way to stay stimulated while sitting down, being still and feeling productive as you move towards that ‘finished puzzle’ feeling. It’s a great way to connect with your family as a team goal, but also if you want to do this as a solo project that's OK too. Don’t be too hard on yourself though if you need to take a break, do it! Come back with fresh eyes and then get ready to brag about finishing a puzzle without even breaking a sweat.

5. Frame your photos

If storing photos on your phone is the only way you capture your memories well it’s time to get them printed and pop them in some frames. Framing pictures is a great way to style your home and bring a smile to your face. Finding frames is half the fun as the options are endless and with some many of the cheaper retailers making some great frames, you’ll love finding your favourites. Give yourself an afternoon to choose the frames and then lay everything out on the floor and take your time matching the photo to frame. Maybe pour yourself a glass of wine also!

6. Picnic in the park

The summer must-do! Packing some homemade sandwiches or crowd favourite sweet muffins and grabbing a picnic blanket with friends. But this time don't invite your friends. Take yourself on a picnic date and enjoy some alone time, socially distanced from strangers. Maybe have a nap under your sunglasses and the best part is you won't have to share any of your picnic lunch!

7. Backyard sprinkler

Those inflatable pool toys have had their moment and now sprinklers are back as the best way to be cool while cooling down. Or keep it old school and just use your garden hose and squirt your family friends or neighbours! There is no better way to cool off than with a backyard sprinkler and it will always take you back to those times as a kid when all you wanted to do was be under the sprinkler 24/7. Good times.

8. Make a pavlova

Is there anything that says Aussie Summer more than a pavlova? Probably not, and they are truly one of the best summer treats you can have. Find a good recipe and you’ll discover ta pav is easier to make than you think. Cheat if you want and pick up some pre-made meringues then all you need to do is whip the cream and pick your favourite summer fruit! Don’t forget to make enough for leftovers!
